I have just got myself an N Belkin wireless router which I have connected with an ethernet cable direct into my desktop PC, after running the disc which comes with the Belkin router the internet on this PC is fine and also my PS3 picked up the signal no problem at all 100% strength. Last but not least I wanted to connect my Vista laptop. This is where the problems started. Now it seems to pick up the signal and it even says 'wireless network available', I click that, find my network which my PC and PS3 are running off, click it to connect and after a few seconds of thinking about it the laptop comes up with a message' failed to connect to this network' (diagnose problem) or something like that. Shall I try turning off the firewall on my desk top PC? Also I don't know if this helps your answer but the only time I can get my laptop to pick the signal up straight away is if I turn off the (I think it's the WAP security????) or something on the desk top PC wireless settings but by doing this disconnects my PS3 immediately?? Any help would be really helpful, I have never dealt with wireless networks before and I am learning a lot more than I ever wanted to. Please help me before I go mental. Thanks again.

go into your web browser and type in 192.168.1.0

this enters your router settings, you should be able to set it up from in there.

also, dont turn off firewall or security pass (i think you mean WEP)

if you can, change the pass to WPA, its more secure.

This is not an easy one to fix if you don't know a lot about wireless settings but here is what I know of your problem.

When your are connected to a network wirelessly open its status screen and click "properties" a new window will pop up and should show internet protocols ipv/6 and ipv/4 you could try uninstalling them then re-installing them this should return you to their original default settings. Next, click on "manage wireless networks" located on the left side of the network and shareing window, a list of networks pops up if you don't see yours then add it and check off that it should be connected automaticaly

try going into the wireless settings on your laptop and deleting the remembered settings so its setup again from scratch.

if this fails goto device manager and right click on the wireless card and select uninstall - then right click on network cards and scan for new hardware - this will reinstall it, then you can try to connect again
