I do not have permissions for a network drive I created?

My assignment was to map a drive to a network folder.

Instructions:

In the Map network Drive dialog box, in the Drive drop-down list, select M:.

In the Folder text box, type \\Computeryy\Sales Projections.

Ensure that the Reconnect at Log on check box is selected. Click Finish.
In the Sales Projections on 'Computeryy' (M:) window, from the file menu, Pointto New and select Text Document.

The problem is at this point, I am being told access is denied because I don't have the proper permissions, and that I should contact the administrator. I am the administrator for this computer, and there is no domain that this is connected to. As per my Instructor's instructions, I modified the directions in the book by substituting my own computer name for the name listed in the lab manual. I know a lot of the labs in the book nobody is able to actually do for various reasons, but this is really annoying me. (A lab manual with labs with instruction that can actually be followed as written? Blasphemy!)

Are you an administrator for Computeryy?

If yes you can follow these steps in this link i submitted before.

Also follow these steps before mapping the drive.

go to Start->run->type \\Computeryy\Sales Projections

and see if you can access this unc path.

If you cant access this link, it is damn obvious you do not have enough permissions to access Sales Projections shared folder.

I do not know if Computeryy is your PC or someone else PC.

if computeryy is someone's else pc, you need him/her to give you the permissions by following the steps in the link above.

The link below has full instructions, but basically it doesn't sound like you set folder permissions before creating the share or you did not set permissions for the share after it was created. Either of these left out can cause you to be unable to access the shared resource. Since you were able to mount it but not create the document, I'd have to think it was the folder permissions.

If you created the folder with your current user account, just navigate to it and modify permissions as the owner should have full control of the folder. If you were logged in as an administrator but your current username does not have administrative privileges, log in as an administrator, navigate to the folder and set permissions. You shouldn't have to be in safe mode unless it is needed for security or there is a problem with your machine.

ok well here is what I would try log into safe mode as administrator go to the folder properties and than select the permisions under the advanced tab for all users then you can reboot in normal mode and it should allow you to access if not please me for more steps you can try

just to function to the previous reaction, in case you're working living house windows Firewall on the computers, you will would desire to permit living house windows record & Printer Sharing below the 'Exceptions' tab. in case you're utilising yet another firewall, you will likely would desire to do an identical, yet utilising a various approach.
