So, it's been a week, today, and my computer has gotten on my last nerves. Last Sunday, it was slow. I didn't know what was going on so I plugged it into my PS3 to see if it was just the computer. My PS3 gave me a DNS error. That problem was resolved. I attempted to access the internet. Still didn't work. My settings were apparently fine ( I had a friend check ). I was getting a message repeatedly and since my computer had crashed a few times during the period before, he told me it ma be a virus. I ran Malware to see if it could get rid of the problem. No luck. I ran the IE 8 diagnostic. And I also ran IPCONFIG/ALL in CMD. Results :

Diagnostic :

error Could not make an HTTP connection.
error Could not make an HTTPS connection.
error Could not make an FTP connection.
warn default route is missing or invalid ( I believe this is referring to the default gateway )

IP Config ( Now, I've looked up similar results and they seem to be longer than mine ) :

Now, I tried a system restore and it failed. Maybe it could be a virus...

Question :

1. Is it a virus and do I need a better program to tackle the problem ?
2. Is it because of hardware or software taking up memory ? Does it have anything to do with svchost or a toolbar ?
3. Is it a third party firewall ?
4. Can resetting the internet settings fix the problem ? Do I need a system restore ?

No, It's not a virus, but a misconfiguration in your TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP servers.

No. your hardware has nothing to do with it.

It could be a third party firewall that the Rules have blocked you in.

Who are you connecting to the Internet through. Your IPCONFIG settings indicate that this computer is a DHCP client receiving internal IP address such as 192.168.100.11. It leads me to believe you have either an internal Windows Server you are connecting through or you manually entered in numbers you thought was right. Especially for your DNS Server. Your DNS server if you are connecting through your home server cannot be 4.2.2.1. Who set your internal network connections up?

If you are going through your provider, then the you want to make sure that your network adapter settings is set to their DNS servers and the Default Gateway is also set to theirs. Until you have these changed and your IP address is no longer a 192.168.100.xx you will never be able to connect. It's simply because if your internal server cannot connect, then those computers on it's domain receiving tcp/ip address will never connect also.

Long story short....If it's an internal network, then make sure your server is able to connect. If you are receiving ISP service through a provider, have them reset your network connections AFTER you manually adjust your tcp/ip settings to receive the proper DNS, Gateway, and IP addresses from them. Good Luck. I hope this explains it a little why you can no longer connect.

XP on the spot icon is one pc with 3 little good parens. you probable ought to pass to community connections(good click the two pc icon and click community connections) and a examine to verify if there's a on the spot community connection. If there is no longer on, the clicking on create a sparkling connection then view on the spot networks in variety. it is going to stroll you through it from there.
