Question:
Help Needed Connecting Two Routers?
?

I have a TP-Link Archer C20 router and a second D-Link DSl 2750U Router. The tp-link router supports cable broadband (Rj-45) and the D-Link router supports dsl (Rj-11) in their WAN ports.
I use the D-link router as the secondary router (slave) but I am having trouble setting this up. I need to set it up in order to extend my wifi coverage.
I have changed the IP adress of the second router and disabled DHCP but when i connect it using lan wire to my first router I just cant connect to the second router wifi.. it keeps saying obtaining IP address and then fails.
My first router IP is 192.168.01 hence I made my second router IP 192.168.0.2.
Please Help me!

This is possible. Do the link lights come up? If not, you need to use a crossover for LAN to LAN (MDIX is failing). An AP is a LAN to LAN connect. You aren't connecting two routers, you are converting your old router to an Access Point and connecting to your other router.

I would also make sure your IP isn't conflicting, you picked the next one in the DHCP pool, I'd change the pool to be the low order and make the static outside the pool OR create a reservation in the DHCP pool.

I'd use a wired connection to debug this. The first thing to see is if you get DHCP response from the AP. If not, something is not right.

You say you "disabled DHCP" on the router and you appear surprised that connecting to it doesn't get an IP address. DHCP is the protocol used for the router to give your computer an IP address.

There's also another major flaw in your setup. Your D-Link is a DSL modem-router and doesn't have a WAN Ethernet jack, so it can not be used as a router without DSL. If you need a wireless access point, just get one.

Choose the second one.
