Alright im pretty good with computers and networking but im stumped; lets see if anyone can help me out.

Bassicly weve gutted our old network got a COMPLETELY new one. its a netgear WNDR 3400 with a netgear usb adapter (for connecting to wireless networks because my desktop cant without help)

so my 360 connects fine. my parents labtop connects fine my touch connects fine . and my sisters does to. the 360 connects without manual input of dns ip etc same with my parents labtop. i tried the same with my desktop but usually it connects with a DNS issue. i did ipconfig checked my ports , firewall makeing sure all that didnt get in the way. now i am trying to figure out how to check my dns specs but i cant find the command for it. anyways so my desktop connects but with limited to ipv4 and 6 but 6 im not worried about my usb adapter connects i think it should be green but its red but it says its connected? which is wierd oh well. but i always come back to "windows cannot connect to www.microsoft.com using DNS" blahblahblah i have everything automatic as for the ipv4 like my parents labtop but for some reason theres something wrong. any more questions or information i didnt give you guys just say it or email me Akissforjesse@yahoo.com .

max points to ANYONE who figures it out/ walks me through to success (:

A DNS error is the generic way of saying you don't have a connection to the internet. Manually inputting your DNS settings wont work, because you don't have a connection to begin with. You said yourself... "my usb adapter connects i think it should be green but its red". It sounds like your wireless connection is not working at all. You can test this for sure by goign to Start > Run, type CMD, hit enter, type ping 4.2.2.2, hit enter. This will let you ping an ip address, not using DNS. If you get replies, then I'm wrong and you're wireless connection is working. If you get timeouts, unreachable, or anything other than replies, then I'm right and your wireless connection is broken. If so, disconnect and reconnect, maybe uninstall/reinstall the usb adapter.

Why not manually configure your DNS server to point to google's public ones?

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

Run -> "ncpa.cpl". Right click the network connection you wish to configure. Find "Internet Protocol". Right click -> properties. Set the DNS there.

it is stupid: "[nonetheless there could be different the right thank you to touch Time Warner, and my parents could desire to understand how, I’m altogether too prideful and lone-wolfish to convey myself to ask them…it’s one among my weird and wonderful ‘it’s harder to ask human beings for help face-to-face’ subject concerns that’s on my checklist of issues to artwork on.]" and is going to reason you issues in existence except you could recover from your self. Time Warner is having the priority. you may desire to have referred to as them the 1st time it happened.
